WASHINGTON – Charlotte Dannatt and
Maggie Donahue ran in the final of the 10,000-meter finals at the NCAA Outdoor Championships Thursday night at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. The race saw the top 24 runners from across the country compete for the Championship title with Alabama's Mercy Chelangat taking the top spot. With one point, the women's team is currently 34th in the NCAA Championships.
ON THE RECORD
"In their first NCAA track & field finals appearance Charlotte and Maggie ran elite-level races. Charlotte performed a masterclass championship 10,000m as it was poised, risky, and gritty with a big payoff. It was a scoring performance and earned her All-America honors. Equally impressive and representative of the program was Donahue's absolute grinder of a performance; she didn't have her best stuff today but clawed from 22nd at the halfway mark all the way to 13th at the line, picking off four in the last lap. Her final lap was the quickest in the entire field and helped her pick up second team All-America honors." - Assistant Track & Field Coach

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Dannatt stuck with the pack through the first part of the race, breaking off the main group with a dozen runners within the first 6,400 meters of the race. Washington's Haley Herberg created a 25-second lead for herself, but Dannatt closed the gap to just over six seconds. In a final push through the last 400 meters, the grad student booked it down the stretch to finish eighth and earn First Team All-America honors.
- Donahue and Dannatt matched pace through the 5,000-meter mark and through the last 800 meters was tracking down runners ahead of her to finish 13th. Donahue earned Second Team All-America honors for her impressive performance.
- The two All-American honors for Dannatt and Donahue are the first for Georgetown in 15 years. This was only the third time the Hoyas have had two athletes compete in the final as well (1993 and 1996).
