Lightweight Hoyas Head to 2022 IRA National Championship

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's lightweight rowing team travels to West Windsor, New Jersey to compete in the 2022 IRA National Championship on Friday, June 3. The Hoyas will participate in three races at the championship regatta, sending a lightweight varsity 8+, lightweight varsity 4+ and a lightweight 2x to Mercer Lake.
 
The lightweight double must finish in the top three to advance to the Grand Final on Saturday. Both the lightweight varsity 4+ and lightweight 8+ automatically qualify for the Grand Final, and Friday's heats will determine the lanes in Saturday's final races.

Lightweights at IRA National Championship
  • The varsity double races first in Heat 1 at 8 a.m. on Friday. Georgetown will compete in a field of eight schools, including Boston University, Gordon College, Harvard/Radcliffe, MIT, Princeton University, University of Wisconsin and Stanford University.
  • Georgetown's lightweight varsity 4+ takes to the water next, racing in Heat 1 at 8:20 a.m. The Hoyas will face Boston University, Harvard/Radcliffe, MIT, Princeton, Stanford and Wisconsin.
  • The varsity lightweight 8+ is the last to race with Heat 1 starting at 8:30 a.m. on Friday. Georgetown will compete against Boston University, Harvard/Radcliffe, Princeton, Stanford and Wisconsin in the National Championship Event.

8:30 a.m. – Lightweight Varsity 8+ Heat 1 
 
Sunday, June 5
8:00 a.m. – Lightweight Varsity 2x Petite Final 
8:10 a.m. – Lightweight Varsity 2x Grand Final
8:20 a.m. – Lightweight Varsity 4+ Grand Final
10:10 a.m. – Lightweight Varsity 8+ Grand Final
