WASHINGTON – The No. 11/12 Hoyas defeated the DePaul Blue Demons 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 7-1-4 on the season and 3-0-1 in BIG EAST play while DePaul slides to 4-5-1 and 0-3 in conference action.
Head Coach Dave Nolan
"This was another tough game against a difficult team to break down because they had numbers back behind the ball and they kind of played a 4-5-1 or a 5-4-1. We never really managed to get around them on the outside in the first half and when we got the ball in front of their box, we never got a quality ball. We kept trying and we kept pushing and I told the girls not to get impatient and it was going to take composure from someone in a busy part of the field. We got a great goal from
Tatum Lenain in the box, and we are very happy to get the three points and the shutout. It was great to see
Erin Junkmann fill in for Julia today and do a fantastic job for us. It was also great to see
Maja Lardner and
Claire Manning back on the field for us as well and it gives us more options moving forward. We will take the three points and will now get ready for a tough road game on Thursday evening against Xavier."
