No. 12/16 Georgetown Draws Xavier

WASHINGTON – The No. 12/16 Hoyas drew Xavier 0-0 in Cincinnati on Thursday evening. With the draw, the Hoyas move to 7-1-5 on the season and 3-0-2 in BIG EAST play while Xavier moves to 9-2-3 on the season and 2-0-3 in conference action.

Head Coach Dave Nolan
"This was always going to be a very tough game, playing our biggest conference rival on the road on a rainy night on an artificial surface. Xavier was well up for the game and put us under serious pressure in the first half in particular. We tried to get the ball down and play out, but they pressed us really hard, and I was happy to go in level at halftime, I think the ball was happy to have a break as well. The second half was better for us, and we managed to create a few good opportunities. But to be fair, Xavier was relentless in their pressure and it needed some big performances from Allie Augur in goal and her back four to keep them at bay. I was really proud of the kid's tonight; nobody hid when the game got physical, and we were also brave in wanting to get on the ball and play soccer. On another night we could have stolen it but that probably would have been unfair on them. We move on now to another road game at my alma mater on Sunday, the Harvard of the Oranges, aka Seton Hall."
