WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University sailing team competed in two events this past weekend. Competing for the Nevins Trophy, the Hoyas took second of 18 teams. The Hoya women's team competed at the Atlantic Coast Championship placing 10th.

• Over the course of two days at Kings Point, the winds ranged from 0-20 and the conditions were very challenging. 
• After 20 races, the Hoyas ended up in second only three points out of first. 
• Again, consistency was hard to come by and, while the Hoyas had a lot of top 5 finishes, they also had some double-digit race finishes which hurt the overall score. 
• In the A Division, Mariner Fagan, Emily Panarella and Spencer Kreigstien ended up in third. 
• In the B Division, Diego Escobar, Marguerite Montagner and Anna Brzezinski took fifth.

Atlantic Coast Championship
10th of 18

• The Atlantic Coast Championship was hosted by Yale and featured the top 18 teams from across the country. 
• The Hoyas sailed well, but couldn't find the consistency to remain in the top five overall and settled for a tenth-place finish. 
• In the A Divisoin, Piper Holthus, Audrey Fung and Lucy Jervis came in ninth overall. 
• In the B division, Kelly Bates, Caro Gaston and Margot Gordon finished 11th in the field. 
• The 10th place finish is something the Hoyas will look to improve on as the season progresses.

• Next up for the coed team is the Atlantic Coast Championship this upcoming weekend at St. Mary's as well as the Tom Curtis Regatta hosted by Georgetown.
• The women's team will compete at the MAISA Conference Championship in two weeks.
