WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team defeated the Butler University Bulldogs 4-2 on Sunday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at Shaw Field in GU's regular season finale. The victory gave the Hoyas at least a share of the BIG EAST Conference Regular Season Championship marking the fifth in program history. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 10-1-7 on the season and 6-0-4 in BIG EAST play, while the Bulldogs drop to 5-7-6 for the year and 1-3-5 in the league.
Head Coach Dave Nolan
- "It was a difficult game. Butler had everything to play for today and they're a well coached, really good team. Wind destroys the two loves of my life, soccer and golf, and I knew that in the first half against the wind that setpieces would cause us trouble. After their goals, we could have folded, but by the end of the first half we were getting back and having chances and even taking over against the wind. In the second half, we were excellent. They knew what was on the line, and they showed the energy and the intensity to go win the game."
