Men’s Swimming & Diving Downs Villanova, Women Fall to the Wildcats

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's swimming & diving team captured a 206-92 win over Villanova while the women's team fell 156-144 to the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at McCarthy Pool.

"The team stepped up in so many events today. We're definitely feeling our training right now. I'm really proud of how fearlessly we're racing and how we're finishing races. We are excited to get back to work on monday."-said Head Coach Jack Leavitt on today's meet.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS 
  • In the 200 medley relay, Trenton Burr, Nate Lamers, Connor Brennan and Bailey De Luise earned a first-place finish with a time of 1:32.21.
  • Jack Brearton and Ronan Krauss went first and second in the 200 free with times of 1:44.00 and 1:44.33, respectively.
  • In the 100 backstroke, Burr (50.51) and Liam Ryan (52.54) took first and second place. 
  • De Luise earned a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.48. 
  • In the 200 butterfly, Gabe Gonda took first with a time of 1:52.52.
  • Shawn Kronenwetter picked up a first-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 21.09.
  • The Hoyas swept the podium in the 1m dive with Nicolas Santaigo (286.23), Charlie Reichle (265.95) and Hriday Parekh (255.23) placing first, second and third, respectively.
  • Nick Pezzella finished first with a time of 2:07.24 in the 200 breaststroke. 
  • Tomo Nozaki captured a first-place victory with a time of 50.94 in the 100 butterfly. 
  • Reichle (301.35), Kyle Maziarz (290.10) and Santiago (279.68) took first, second and third in the 3m dive. 
  • In the 400 free relay, Kronenwetter, De Luise, Brennan and Grant Closson captured first with a time of 3:08.39.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Erin Hood, Madeline Malone, Genevieve Youngman and Cali Oyerly finished first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:44.28.
  • Kira Ange earned a first-place finish in the 1000 free with a time of 10:26.25.
  • In the 200 free, Maddie Bauer placed first with a time of 1:52.16
  • With a time of 1:04.69, Hood placed first in the 100 breaststroke.  
  • In the 50 free, Malone took first with a time of 23.88.
  • Hood picked up another victory in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:19.44.
  • In the 500 free, Bauer placed first with a time of 5:06.54.
  • With a score of 239.19, Liz Durgin took first in the 3m dive. 
  • In the 400 free relay, Malone, Bauer, Isabella Wylie and Ines Lavato placed first with a time of 3:30.31.
