Swimming and Diving to Compete at Three-Day Brown Invite This Weekend

WASHINGTON –The Georgetown University's swimming & diving team will travel to Providence, Rhode Island to participate in the Bruno Invite hosted by Brown University. Over the course of Friday, November 17-19, the Hoyas will compete against Brown, Colgate University, Binghamton University, Rider University, and the University of New Hampshire (women only). The meet will take place at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center with the competition begging at 10 a.m. each day.  

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown captured a sweep against Johns Hopkins University last week with the men winning 163-99 and the women topping the Blue Jays 152-100.
  • The Hoyas' men's team dominated the relays against the Blue Jays, with Trenton Burr, Bailey De Luise, Nate Lamers and Connor Brennan earning first place in the 200 medley (1:33.39) and Shaun Kronenwetter, De Luise, Brennan and Grant Closson taking first in the 200 free (1:23.10).
  • Connor Jellig (1:43.18), William Connolly (1:44.50) and Max Larock (1:46.50) swept the podium in the 200 free, going first, second and third, respectively.
  • De Luise and Jack Brearton both added two more first place finishes during the meet, with De Luise winning the 100 breaststroke (57.64) and the 100 free (47.61) and Brearton earning the top spot in the 200 breaststroke (2:06.63) and 200 IM (1:53.35).
  • On the women's end, Cali Oyerly and Maddie Haley took first and second in the 100 backstroke with times of 57.69 and 58.97, respectively.
  • Angelica Reali picked up two first place finishes, winning the 100 breaststroke (1:07.42) and the 200 IM (2:08.33).
  • Oyerly, Erin Hood, Genevieve Youngman and Madeline Malone placed first in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:46.26.
MEET NOTES 
  • Brown's men's team is 1-2 and the women's team is 2-2 on the season, and Colgate's men are starting the season 1-4 while its women are 3-2. Binghamton's men have a record of 3-1 and its women are 2-2, with Rider's men posting a record of 3-2 while the women are currently 1-4. The UNH women's team comes to this meetup with a record of 3-0.
  • The last time the Hoyas and the Rider Broncs met was in a 2017 meet, in which the women won 143-82 while the men dropped 134-103.
