Four Hoyas Named to United Soccer Coaches’ All-Region Teams

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's soccer team had four student-athletes named to the United Soccer Coaches' 2023 NCAA Division I Women's All-East Region teams on Wednesday. Graduate students Julia Leas and Allie Augur as well as junior Eliza Turner and sophomore Natalie Means were among the 33 athletes selected for the honor. Georgetown closed out its season in the second round of the NCAA Division I Championships when they fell to sixth-seeded St Louis. The Hoyas ended with a record of 13-2-7 overall and 6-0-4 in conference.
 
Leas was named to the All-East Region First Team. The Vienna, Virginia native was spectacular for the Blue & Gray this season appearing in 21 matches, starting every contest she appeared in. Leas was named the BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and earned a nod to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Leas was also named to the 2023 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. The graduate student was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the week once this season and was tabbed as the BIG EAST Defender of the Year for the second-consecutive season while also earning a nod to the All-BIG EAST First Team. She was also named to the College Sports Communicators' 2023 Academic All-District Team last week as well. Leas was named a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist for the second-consecutive year on Wednesday.
 
Augur was named to the All-East Second Team. The Northford, Connecticut native started the season being named the BIG EAST Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Augur started and appeared in 19 contests this season for GU and recorded 12 shutouts in her 19 games. Augur was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team and moved into second in program history in career shutouts with 33 during her career on the Hilltop.
 
Turner was named to the All-East Third Team. Turner was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST team after a stellar sophomore campaign for GU. The junior was vital to the Hoya midfield this season starting and appearing in all 22 contests for the Blue & Gray. Turner tallied two goals and three assists on the season and was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team.
 
Means was named to the All-East Third Team. Means appeared in 21 games this season starting 19 of the contests. The sophomore tallied five goals, three of which were game winners. Means earned a nod to the All-BIG EAST First Team.
