Julia Leas Named MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist

WASHINGTON – Georgetown's Julia Leas was one of 15 Division I women's soccer players named as a 2023 Women's MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist on Wednesday afternoon as announced by United Soccer Coaches.  The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual award a player can receive at the collegiate level. The women's finalists will be announced on Wednesday, December 6 and will be based on voting by NCAA Division I women's soccer coaches. Leas was named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List in August for the second-consecutive year.
 
Leas was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team and was selected as the Preseason BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year. The Vienna, Virginia native was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and earned a nod to the All-BIG EAST First Team. Leas was named the defensive player of the week once this season and was also named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week once. Leas had one goal and one assist on the season across her 21 starts for GU. Leas set the program record for most consecutive starts this season with 90 in her career. The graduate student also now holds the program record for most appearances in the Blue & Gray with 100.
