WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University track & field program competed in the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational and the Valentine Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Saturday at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational, Joshua Paige dazzled once again winning the 200m event while tying his school record from a year ago with a time of 21.07.
 
 
ON THE RECORD
 
"Highlight of the Darius Dixon Invitational had to be Josh's 21.07 seconds in his 2nd outing at 200m this season, equaling his School Record set last year. Also, great seeing Malachi Quarles running personal bests this weekend in the prelims and the final, which will set him up well for the Championship portion of our season. "We went in with the intention of racing as a group across the events and heats of races, and the women did a great job of simply executing their best races to contribute to that greater cause. Riggins and McDonald continue to make progress over 800m, and Jensen had a breakthrough in her finishing speed in her Mile. Scrimgeour and Gonzalez put together very competitive debut efforts over 3000m. Given their novice status, the challenges they've overcome as people, and Scrimgeour racing the entire race with 1/2 a shoe off her foot, I'm really proud of their grit. Friday Valentine Invitational

• In the mile event, Grace Jensen dazzled running a blazing time of 4:34.11 which is now the third fastest in school history and is currently the 17th fastest in the country.
• Andrea Claeson finished 10th in the mile with a time of 4:37.26

 
Friday Darius Dixon Memorial Invite

• Maya Drayton ran in the 60m semis and qualified for the finals on Saturday with a time of 7.65.

 
Saturday Darius Dixon Memorial Invite

• Drayton placed sixth in the 60m finals event with a time of 7.65.
• In the 200m event, Drayton continued with her strong day grabbing a fifth-place finish with a time of 24.58.
• In the 4x400 relay, GU's team of Jadah Fitzgerald, KC Ashiogwu, Renee Newton and Rebecca Ochan finished sixth with a time of 3:50.09.

Friday Darius Dixon Memorial Invite

• In the 60m semis, Joshua Paige finished fourth with a time of 6.84 which qualified him for Saturday's finals.
• Hoya teammate Kadari Mitchell also qualified for the finals in the 60m event with a time of 6.90.
• In the 60m hurdle semis, Malachi Quarles set a new personal best with a time of 8.15. That time pushed Quarles into the finals on Saturday.
• In the 400m event, Aaron Lindsey finished in ninth with a time of 49.09.

Saturday Valentine Invite

• In the 800m event, Matthew Payamps grabbed a fifth-place finish with a time of 1:48.05.

Saturday Darius Dixon Memorial Invite

• Paige was spectacular in the 200m event clocking a time of 21.07 which ties his own school record. A year ago to the day, Paige ran a 21.07 in the Kenneth Giles Norfolk State Invite.
• GU teammate Mitchell ran a fantastic race as well in the 200m finishing in third with a time of 21.65.
• Paige finished third in the 60m event finals with a time of 6.90. Hoya teammate Mitchell finished seventh with a time of 6.98.
• In the 60m hurdles, Quarles finished fourth with a time of 8.12.
