WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's tennis players
Jake Fellows and
Arthur O'Sullivan were named BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week on Monday as announced by the league. The sophomore and freshman duo picked up their fifth doubles win this season in two commanding wins over Army (7-0) and conference foe Marquette (6-1) this weekend.
"Jake and Arthur are playing awesome doubles together," said Head Coach
Freddy Mesmer. "We have put a lot of emphasis on the doubles and it is starting to show. Both of these guys are great singles players, but I'm glad to see they are finding good form in doubles as well."
Fellows and O'Sullivan started the weekend off by clinching the doubles point for the Hoyas with a 6-3 win in the second doubles spot over Marquette's Tin Krstulovic and Blake Roegner. The duo then went on to pick up singles wins in 6-1 victory over the Golden Eagles on Friday evening.
On Sunday, the pair locked in another doubles point-deciding win for the Hoyas in a 6-3 finish over Army's Vishnu Bodavula and Samuel Haikal. In the singles competition, Fellows fell in the second set to Thomas Lake but finished strong to win 6-1, 1-6, 6-0. O'Sullivan battled with Jake Huarte in a singles match but came out victorious 7-5, 7-5 in the Blue & Gray's sweeping 7-0 victory over Army.
