Georgetown Hosts No. 15/18 Villanova for Play4Kay Game

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will host the No. 15/18 Villanova University Wildcats in its annual Play4Kay Game on Wednesday evening in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at McDonough Arena. The opening tip is slated for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports with Matt Janus and Harry Perretta calling the action.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (12-11, 5-9 BIG EAST) fell in a tough 66-49 loss at Marquette on Saturday evening.
  • Junior Kelsey Ransom led Georgetown with 23 points and seven rebounds as well as one steal. She was the lone Hoya in double figures in the game.
  • The Hoyas shot 37.3% (22-59) from the field, and the Blue & Gray allowed 41.9% (26-62) shooting by the Golden Eagles.
  • GU was outrebounded by Marquette 40-34 in the game, and Georgetown forced 12 Golden Eagle turnovers on five steals.
  • Ransom is 15th in the league in scoring with 13.7 ppg as well as 14.7 ppg in league play.
  • She leads the league in steals with 2.8 spg which ranks her 19th in the nation, is ninth in the league on the glass with 7.1 rpg and 10th in the conference in assists managing 3.3 apg.
  • The junior captain leads the team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals per game.
  • Just behind her is Kennedy Fauntleroy with 11.4 ppg, the highest mark among freshmen in the BIG EAST.
About the Wildcats
  • Villanova is 20-4 on the season and 11-2 in BIG EAST Conference play.
  • The Wildcats are currently ranked No. 15 in the nation in the Associated Press poll as well as sitting at No. 18 in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll
  • The Wildcats are coming off of a 78-58 victory at Butler on Saturday afternoon.
  • Maddy Siegrist finished with 31 points on 13-of-19 shooting from the field. Sophomore guard Lucy Olsen had 18 points and five assists, while Christina Dalce added her second straight double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Siegrist leads the Wildcats, the league and the nation in scoring averaging 28.3 ppg.
Series Information
  • The Hoyas are 24-49 all-time against the Wildcats and 14-18 at home.
  • Earlier this season, the squads met in Pennsylvania with Georgetown falling in a close one by a score of 71-64.
  • Fauntleroy led the way with 24 points to go along with three rebounds, two steals and a block.
