WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University track & field women's distance medley relay squad of
Grace Jensen,
Maya Drayton,
Katy-Ann McDonald and
Melissa Riggins finished fifth in the national final race.
ON THE RECORD
"Another great day to be a Hoya. Tremendous effort from Matt competing in the mile…getting caught in a tactical race can be tough but he competed and we're proud of his performance. Our women finishing 5th best in the NCAA Championships is beyond exciting. All four left it all out on the track and earned their All-American recognition. As a coaching staff we couldn't be more pleased with how they represented the program this weekend." - Director of Cross Country/Track & Field
Alton McKenzie
"Georgetown being back on this stage AND competing well was very important to this group; they executed an awesome team race to grab 5th after coming in seeded 11th. Just awesome stuff to compete like that at this level. Jensen led off brilliantly from a positioning standpoint and gave Drayton a great starting point. Drayton executed very well and gave McDonald the spot she needed to race at a very high level. Riggins did her part and dug really hard, especially to close down at the end for one more spot." – Assistant Coach for Track & Field
Mitchell Baker
"Matt competed very well at his first NCAA meet. He hesitated a little bit with 400 to go but ran a great last lap. Both he and I are disappointed he didn't make the final, but he came here and gave great effort. That's all I can ask." – Assistant Coach for Track & Field
