Hoyas Set to Play in The Spring Games in Madeira Beach

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown softball team returns to Madeira Beach, Florida this weekend for The Spring Games. The Hoyas are set to play five games over three days with two games on Friday against Southeastern Louisiana (3 p.m.) and Central Michigan (5:30 p.m.). On Saturday, the Blue & Gray faces Middle Tennessee at 10 a.m. and UAlbany at 12:30 p.m. and on Sunday the team closes out with a game against Holy Cross at 11:30 a.m.

About the Hoyas
  • Kayla Dunn leads the team with a .440 average from the plate. The sophomore has recorded 11 hits over 11 games with one home run and one double under her belt.
  • Senior Lorena Vasquez-Inzunza has seven hits on her 12 games this year with four runs, a double and two triples.
  • Brooke Plonka has dominated from the circle in her first season as a Hoya. The graduate student has a 2.08 ERA and is 2-4 so far. 
  • Georgetown is currently 2-10 on the 2023 season.
 
About the Chippewas
  • Junior Abbey Tolmie tops the leaderboard for Central Michigan with a batting average of .467 recording 14 hits over nine games with four doubles, nine runs and three RBIs.
  • Junior Redshirt Skylar Coberley is .320 from the plate with eight hits along with Kelsey Alexander with eight hits and a .308 batting average.
  • The Chippewas have had five different pitchers this season. Kaitlyn Bean is 1-3 from the circle with a 4.64 ERA with Madelyn Wallace going 1-1 on the year and a 5.91 ERA.
  • CMU is 3-6 on the 2023 season.
 
About the Lions
  • Bailey Krolczyk, Lexi Johnson and Maria Detiller all have batting averages over .400 for Southeastern Louisiana.
  • Johnson has 19 hits, 11 runs, one double, two triples and three home runs for 18 RBIs over 15 games.
  • Krolczyk and Cam Goodman have 16 and 15 hits, respectively. Krolczyk has eight RBIs to her name as well from eight hits, three doubles and a home run.
  • Junior Cera Blanchard has gone undefeated from the circle with six wins and a 0.80 ERA.
  • The Lions are 13-2 on the 2023 season.
 
About the Lightning
  • Sophomore Laura Mealer is batting .524 from the plate over 14 games. She has 22 hits, 19 runs, four doubles, one triple, three home runs and 16 RBIs.
  • Shelby Echols has recorded 16 hits, 14 runs, three doubles, and one triple with a .364 batting average .
  • Keri Munn has an ERA of 1.11 with three wins from the circle and no losses.
  • Middle Tennessee is 11-3 on the 2023 season. 
 
About the Great Danes
  • Jordan Nastro leads the Great Danes with two RBIs, six hits and one run with a .400 batting average.
  • Caitlyn Frederick is .375 from the plate over five games with six hits and four runs.
  • Wendi Hammond tops the pitchers for UAlbany with a 1-2 record and a 3.11 ERA.
  • UAlbany is 1-4 on the 2023 season.
 
About the Crusaders
  • Anna Brait has nine hits, a homer and a double for seven RBIs. She is .474 from the plate over seven games.
  • Freshman Ali Sniegocki has a batting average of .333 recording seven hits and two RBIs.
  • Pitcher Megan Yurchick has a 2-2 record from the circle and a 5.95 ERA for the Crusaders.
  • Holy Cross is 3-4 on the 2023 season.
