Georgetown Welcomes Pirates to The District

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team (10-13, 3-6 BIG EAST) will continue BIG EAST Conference play on Thursday afternoon as the squad faces the Seton Hall University Pirates (13-17, 3-9 BIG EAST) at the Mount Vernon Softball Complex in Washington, D.C. Thursday's game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., while Friday was moved to a 4 p.m. first pitch and the final game on Saturday will begin at noon.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Last weekend, GU went 1-2 against the Villanova University Wildcats in a BIG EAST series in Pennsylvania.
  • The Hoyas lost the first one, 6-5, in 11 innings and then fell 5-3 on Saturday.
  • On Sunday, GU came away with the 7-4 victory as Taylor Francis led the way with a 2-for-4 performance with two RBIs, and Dayanara Campos was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
  • Emily Strittmatter was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, and Gabby Park added a 2-for-3 performance with a pair of RBIs.
  • Campos leads the team at the plate batting .345 to go along with a squad-high eight home runs as well as 16 RBIs. Her 28 career home runs place her in third on GU's all-time list and just two away from breaking the record.
  • Strittmatter is second hitting .333 with a team-best 27 hits and 20 runs scored.
  • Brooke Rebhan rounds out the top three hitting .325 with a squad-high 27 hits and 17 RBIs on the year.
  • Marina Egbert has a 3.33 ERA in the circle with 19 strikeouts on the year, while Emily Collins has a 3.44 ERA and 46 strikeouts.
  • Catherine Larson rounds it out with 43 strikeouts in 61 innings pitched with a 3.79 ERA.
  • Through 23 games, with an ERA of 3.63, the Hoyas are only one of two BIG EAST teams to have a sub-3.70 ERA on the season.
  • As a result, Georgetown's three starters hold the second (Egbert), fifth (Collins) and sixth-lowest (Larson) ERAs in the conference, respectively.
ABOUT THE PIRATES
  • Seton Hall has a 3-9 record in conference play after playing the top four teams by record.
  • Angelina Benitez is hitting a team-leading .406 with 43 hits at the plate with the most runs scored on the team (24) and second-most RBI (19).
  • Sophia DeMarco is hitting .356 with both a team-leading six home runs and 29 RBIs.
  • Karissa DuPuis has been the Pirates' best pitcher in conference play. Across her eight appearances and seven starts, DuPuis has a 5.86 ERA with a 3-3 record in 34.2 innings pitched.
