Hoyas Top Loyola 23-7 in Nonconference Finale

Box Score BALTIMORE – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team won its final nonconference game of the season with a 23-7 rout at Loyola on Tuesday night. The No. 8/9 Hoyas improve to 8-3 overall on the year while the Greyhounds fall to 6-6.
 
Hoya Highlights  How it Happened
  • The Hoyas opened the game with back-to-back Dordevic goals to lead 2-0 before the Greyhounds responded with a pair of goals to even the score at the 11:15 mark. It was Georgetown the rest of the way as the Blue & Gray scored five unanswered goals to close out the frame and lead 7-2.
  • In the second, the Hoyas outscored Loyola 8-1 in the frame. Georgetown held their hosts to just nine shots in the period en route to a 15-3 halftime lead.
  • Georgetown opened the scoring in the second half before Loyola netted three-consecutive goals to pull within 10 at 16-6. The Hoyas would close out the frame with two goals, including one with three seconds remaining courtesy of Haley's program record-tying 94th helper.
  • In the fourth, the Hoyas added a pair of goals in the first five minutes before giving the bench extensive action for the final 10 minutes. Caggiano, Caponiti and Mathies each scored their first goals of the season – including the first of Caponiti's career.
Loyola Notes
  • Michael Minicus led the Greyhounds with two goals and an assist while Evan James added two goals.
  • Defensively, Matt Hughes was credited with two caused turnovers.
  • In goal, the 'Hounds combined for 10 saves between three different goalies.
Hoya Notes
  • The win is the first for the Hoyas against Loyola in Baltimore since 2015.
  • Bundy passes Brendan Cannon ('08) for ninth-place on Georgetown's all-time scoring list with 158 points.
  • McDermott passes Rickey Mirabito ('11) for 20th-place all-time in career scoring with 126 points.
  • Haley moves into a tie for 25th-place all-time in career scoring, matching Kevin Noonan ('94) and Mike Henehan ('01) with 11 points.
  • Georgetown has now won eight-straight following an 0-3 start to the season.
