Matthew Payamps Named BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's Matthew Payamps was named the BIG EAST Men's Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday, as announced by the league office. The honor comes after the Hoyas went out to Azusa, California for the Bryan Clay Invitational with two contingents of runners looking for fast times in the 1,500-meter run.

  • Payamps clocked 3:38.55 in the 1,500m at the Bryan Clay Invitational over the weekend.
  • His time in the 1,500m ranks first in the league so far this season.
  • The senior owns the eighth-fastest time in the country currently.
  • This is the first honor for Payamps this season and the second on the men's side for the program.
 
UP NEXT
The Hoyas will return to action next weekend as they split sites between the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Virginia and the EKU Rick Erdmann Twilight Meet in Richmond, Kentucky on April 21-22.
