WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's openweight rowing team competed in the Lake Wheeler Invitational over the weekend. On the final day of racing, Georgetown earned three fifth-place finishes as well as one fourth-place finish. On Saturday morning the Hoyas also beat University of North Carolina in a duel race to win the annual Class of 2006 Cup.
"We are proud of the squad for retaining the class of 2006 cup against UNC," said Head Coach
Kendall Mulligan. "Amongst this accomplishment, the team is using the experience of racing three times this weekend to build intentional improvement and success going into the final two races of the season. We are looking forward to Women's Sprints in Worcester, Massachusetts next weekend where we will continue to test our speed against some of the best programs on the east coast."
Results
- The Blue & Gray 2V8 boat clocked a time of 7:14.033 to finish in fourth place in the first heat.
- GU's V8 earned fifth with a time of 7:00.920 in heat one.
- In the first heat of the 3V8, Georgetown finished in fifth place with a time of 7:47.760
- Georgetown's V4 boat placed fifth in heat one, clocking a time of 7:59.043
