Hoyas Head to BIG EAST Championships

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's golf team is set to travel to Hardeeville, South Carolina for the BIG EAST Men's Golf Championships Presented by JEEP. The three-day, three-round tournament will be held at Riverton Pointe Golf and Country Club, a par-72, 6,190-yard course. The three-round tournament will be played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 21-23. A link for live scoring will be available on GUHoyas.com.

The Hoyas finished third at the Rutherford Intercollegiate hosted by Penn State with a team score of 853. Pieter DeGroot earned BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week honors for his performance at the Rutherford Intercollegiate where he finished tied for fourth.
 
Hoya Lineup
  • The Hoyas will travel five student-athletes this weekend.
  • Senior captain DeGroot will be in the one spot for GU after finishing tied for fourth at the Rutherford Intercollegiate. DeGroot had his best finish of the season and carded rounds of 69, 69 and 71 as round two was bogey free for DeGroot.
  • Charlie Creamean will be in the two spot for the event after grabbing his first top-10 finish of the season. Creamean carded rounds of 69, 72 and 70.
  • Max Hutter will be in the three spot for the third-consecutive outing after turning in cards of 70, 74 and 72 at Penn State.
  • Senior captain David Rogers will be in the four spot for GU after carding rounds of 75, 69 and 75 at the Rutherford Intercollegiate.
  • Jacob Finard will be in the five spot after shooting 78, 75 and 73 at Penn State.
 
About the Tournament
  • The event will have the BIG EAST Conference as the field. Teams include in order of ranking: Marquette, Seton Hall, Butler, St. John's, UConn, DePaul, Creighton, Xavier, Georgetown and Villanova.
  • Teams will tee off Friday morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. and will play one full round, followed by another round Saturday and another Sunday.

Upon completion of the BIG EAST Championships, the Hoyas could earn a berth in the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Tournament.
