WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's golf team posted a team score of 295 in the first round of the 2023 BIG EAST Championships presented by JEEP which is tied for sixth place overall currently. The Hoyas were led by Pieter DeGroot who carded a 71 in round one. Round two will begin tomorrow at 8 a.m.
 
Hoya Results

• DeGroot led the Hoyas on day one, carding a round of 71 (-1). DeGroot who is tied for sixth shot three over in the first nine holes with one birdie, two bogeys and one double bogey. DeGroot came out in the second nine on a tear sinking birdies on four of the first six holes to finish the day under par.
•  Charlie Creamean carded a first-round score of 74. The sophomore shot a 38 on the front nine and an even 36 on the back nine.
• Max Hutter turned in a first-round card of 78. Hutter recorded three birdies in round one but saw a double bogey and a triple bogey on the 16th set him back heading into round two.
• Captain David Rogers had a difficult first nine holes recording five bogeys. The back nine saw the senior sink two birdes while playing the rest of the holes even giving Rogers a 75 in round one.
• Jacob Finard turned in a card of 75 in round one. Finard recorded two birdies and three bogeys and a double bogey.  

Tournament Leaders

• Seton Hall is in first place with a team score of 2-under par. Butler is in second four shots behind the Pirates at 2-over par.
• Nine shots separate Georgetown (+7) and the current leader Seton Hall (-2).

• Round two of the BIG EAST Championships presented by JEEP will begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning at Riverton Pointe Golf and Country Club.
