Fellows Named BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's tennis player Jake Fellows was named the BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week on Monday as announced by the league. This is the sophomore's second Singles Player of the Week award and third weekly award this season.

"Jake had a great weekend for our team," said Head Coach Freddy Mesmer. "His first time stepping up to play the number one spot and he has earned it. Jake's hard work off the court is starting to pay off and I'm excited to see how he finishes the season."

This season Fellows has earned 10 singles wins at the number two spot and picked up two straight victories in the number one spot en route to a Hoya win over Howard and DePaul this weekend.

The Tokyo native started the weekend out with a 6-1 doubles victory with partner Zamaan Moledina at Howard. Fellows then went on to earn a 7-5, 6-1 win over the Bison's Justin Cadeau.

Fellows continued his win streak against DePaul on Sunday with a number two doubles win (6-2) with teammate Arthur O'Sullivan. Fellows topped off the weekend with a decisive singles victory 6-2, 6-2 over Antionio Matteo to help lift the Hoyas to a 5-2 conference win over the Blue Demons.
