WASHINGTON – The Big 12 and BIG EAST Conferences have announced the 2023 schedule for the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle and Georgetown will host TCU on Saturday, December 2. The men's basketball non-conference scheduling alliance is in its fifth year. Games for the upcoming season will be played from November 30-December 5. Game times and television networks will be announced when available.
ABOUT THE HOYAS
- This will be the second meeting between the Hoyas and Horned Frogs with the first coming during the 2021-22 season, also in the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle.
- Georgetown dropped an 80-73 decision to TCU in 2021 while a shorthanded Hoya squad had three in double figures. Aminu Mohammed tallied a double-double with game-best numbers of 21 points and 11 rebounds while Kaiden Rice added 14 points and Donald Carey chipped in 12.
- Georgetown owns a 1-3 record in the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle. The Hoyas defeated Oklahoma State in Stillwater in 2019, before falling to West Virginia (2020, McDonough Arena), TCU (2021, Capital One Arena) and Texas Tech (2022, Lubbock).
- Head Coach Ed Cooley has a 3-1 record in the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle with wins over Texas (2019), at TCU (2020) and Texas Tech (2021). Cooley suffered his first setback in the series in 2022 with a loss at TCU.
ABOUT THE HORNED FROGS
- TCU went 22-13 overall last season with a 9-9 mark in Big 12 action to earn a sixth seed in the NCAA West Region. The Horned Frogs fell 84-81 to third-seeded Gonzaga in the NCAA Second Round.
- TCU is coached by Jamie Dixon, who just finished his seventh season with the Horned Frogs and 20th overalls as a head coach.
ABOUT THE BIG EAST-BIG 12 BATTLE
- With each conference adding member schools since the start of the original agreement, the Battle will increase from 10 to 11 matchups for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.
- The Big 12 will host six games in 2023-24 while the BIG EAST will host six the following season.
- The Battle matchups are jointly determined by the two conferences, with the home team choosing the venue of its game.
- Broadcast arrangements for the contests will be determined by the national television rights holder of the home team, which is ESPN for the Big 12 and FOX Sports for the BIG EAST.
