WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team was voted the No. 1 team in the BIG EAST Conference in the preseason rankings. The Hoyas earned 10 first-place votes followed by Xavier with one.
Julia Leas, the reigning BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and a MAC Hermann semifinalist, was unanimously selected as the Preseason BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year. In 2022, Leas started all 22 contests for the Blue & Gray while logging a team high 1,980 minutes, recorded three goals and four assists while anchoring the back line.
Allie Augur, the reigning BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year was unanimously selected as the Preseason BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year. In 2022, Augur started 12 contests after coming off an injury and recorded 10 shutouts for the Hoyas. Augur recorded 1,080 minutes between the pipes and was credited with 22 saves on the season.
Leas and Augur were also the only two unanimous selections to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Junior
Eliza Turner was also named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team after a stellar sophomore campaign. Turner logged 1,779 minutes and added two goals and one assist in 2022.
