No. 16 Georgetown Opens 2023 Season at Pepperdine

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team plays its first match of the 2023 season on August 17, against Pepperdine at Tari Frahm Rokus Field. The road game is slated for 6 p.m. EST in Malibu, California. Pepperdine is coming off a season that saw the Waves go 9-4-5 while dropping its final contest of the season 2-1 to then-No. 23 Santa Clara. The Hoyas went 15-2-5 in the 2022 season and lost only one game (Virginia) during regular season play and the second to Pitt in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Hoyas captured their sixth BIG EAST Championship title in the past seven years a season ago downing Xavier 1-0 in the championship match.

ABOUT THE WAVES
  • Pepperdine is coming off a 9-4-5 season in 2022 which saw the Waves go 3-3-3 in WCC action.
  • The Waves were picked to finish third in the WCC preseason poll. Pepperdine returns Tatum Wynalda who was a second team All-WCC selection last season.
  • Taylor Bloom and Kam Pickett both return for Pepperdine this season after being named All-WCC honorable mention selections last year.
 
WHAT LIES AHEAD
The Hoyas will face LMU on Sunday, August 20 with kickoff slated for 3 p.m. EST. Georgetown will host Bucknell for its home opener on Thursday, August 24 at 4 p.m. on Shaw Field. Tickets are available online or at the ticketing booth on game day.
