No. 20/20 Hoyas Host Bucknell

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team is set to host the Bucknell Bison on Thursday, August 24. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. at Shaw Field as the contest will mark the Hoyas' home opener of the 2023 season. Georgetown enters the contest with a 1-0-1 record after earning a draw against Pepperdine and a win against LMU while Bucknell comes into the match at 2-0-0 after defeating both Saint Joseph's and George Washington during the first week of the season.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • GU picked up its first win of the season against LMU on Sunday. Erika Harwood scored the lone goal of the contest in the 48th minute off an assist from Henley Tippins.
  • Allie Augur was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after recording five saves and one shutout last week.
  • Natalie Means scored the Hoyas lone tally on a solo effort against Pepperdine for her second career goal as a Hoya and her first of the season.
  • Georgetown returns 20 players from a season ago and welcomes 11 new additions to the squad for the 2023 campaign.
  • Julia Leas, Augur and Eliza Turner were all tabbed as Preseason All-BIG EAST selections.
  • Leas was named the BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and Augur was simultaneously named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year.

ABOUT BUCKNELL
  • The Bison enter the contest with a record of 2-0-0 after defeating St. Joseph's 4-0 and George Washington 3-1.
  • Henna Andican leads the Bison offense with two goals and two assists through two games this season.
  • Jenna Hall has logged 180 minutes between the pipes this season and boasts a goals against average (GAA) of .50 after allowing only one goal in the Bison's two contests this season.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • The Hoyas lead the all-time series against Bucknell 4-2 with the last contest coming in 2019.
  • In 2019, the Hoyas downed the Bison 2-0 behind goals from Paula Germino-Watnick and Caitlin Moon.
  • The last meeting between the two sides before 2019 was in 2005. GU captured a 3-1 victory in that contest.
