WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's swimming & diving team started the season off with a victory in the Potomac Relays on Friday evening. The men's team finished in first place with a score of 336 while the women posted a score of 334 to capture the victory. The Hoyas earned the victories over American, Howard, George Mason and Mount St. Mary's.
The men's team earned seven first-place finishes and four second-place finishes while the women recorded eight first-place victories and two third-place finishes.
"Early in the season we are always focusing on attitude and effort more than fast times," said Head Coach
Jack Leavitt. "We were really happy with the energy the team brought and their consistency from start to finish. it was a really great meet to build on as we start getting into our duel meet season."
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Allie Sanchez, Erin Hood, Genevieve Youngman and Isabella Wylie picked up the first Hoya win of the evening in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:47.20.
- Youngman, Angelica Reali and Cali Oyerly captured a first place finish in the 3x100-yard butterfly relay with a time of 2:52.80.
- Hood, Reali and Alex Breuer picked up the women's third first-place finish with a time of of 3:20.245 in the 3x100-yard breaststroke relay.
- Hood, Breuer, Sanchez and Sammy Hagberg placed first in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:05.00
- In the 2x500 free relay, freshmen Kira Agne and Emma Hare placed first with a time of 10:34.49
- Wylie, Madeline Malone, Ines Lovato and Lindsey Wagner earned the narrow victory in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:36.82.
- Lizzy Durgin and Wynter Bramo went one and two in both the 1M dive and the 3M dive.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- John McEachern, Bailey De Luise, Tomo Nozaki and Connor Brennan won the men's first race of the evening in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.83
- Jack Brearton, Ronan Krauss, Conor Jellig and William Connolly earned a first place finish in the 800 free relay with a time of 6:59.79.
- De Luise, Ansen Meyer and Nick Pezzella captured a win for the Hoyas with a time of 2:51.77 in the 3x100 yard breaststroke relay.
- Jellig, Grant Closson and Trenton Burr earned a victory in the 500 free relay with a time of 4:07.13
- In the 400 medley relay, Pezzella, Brearton, Jack Januario and Liam Ryan captured the win with a time of 3.32.87.
- The Hoyas swept the diving podium, earning the top five finishes in the 1M and 3M dive.
