WASHINGTON – The No. 11/12 Hoyas drew UConn on Thursday afternoon 0-0. With the draw the Hoyas move to 6-1-4 on the season and 2-0-1 in BIG EAST play while UConn moves to 5-2-3 on the season and 2-0-1 in conference action.
Head Coach Dave Nolan
"I think overall a draw was a fair result today. We never really created the clearest of chances, we had a few half chances, but we never found that killer punch to knock them down. To be fair, they were very dangerous in transition, and they had a lot of pace up top. I thought we did a really good job of dealing with their strength and we really didn't give them many chances. They were always a danger, but I thought we handled it well and I thought in particular,
Alex Bair and
Erika Harwood did a really good job for us. We were just missing that final connection today once we were in the attacking third and we couldn't quite create a quality cross or through ball. Today wasn't due to a lack of effort, it was a much better performance than our game against Creighton. I thought we were more like ourselves today and we just kept trying to find a way to win. I give the girls a lot of credit, they had a good performance, but we just didn't have that bit of quality needed to win the game."
