WASHINGTON – Georgetown University ranked No. 22 in the country in the Division I LEARFIELD Sports Directors' Cup standings, which were released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) for the first time this academic year on Thursday.
The Hoyas ranked No. 22 nationally with 200 points. Georgetown is first among all seven ranked BIG EAST Conference teams and is second among all non-FBS teams.
This is the ninth-straight year Georgetown has been ranked among the top-25 teams in the country at this point of the year in the standings.
Sport Rankings
- The Hoyas were aided in their top-25 standing by earning 56 points from the women's cross country team, which finished 18th at the NCAA Championship.
- Men's cross country was close behind with 44 points after a 30th-place finish.
- Both the men's and women's soccer teams rounded out the point scorers with 50 points apiece after advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
About the Division I LEARFIELD Directors' Cup
- The Division I LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
- The next Division I standings will be released in early April.
