Hoyas Host DePaul on Saturday

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's basketball team continues its three-game homestand on Saturday, January 6 when the team hosts the visiting DePaul University Blue Demons to the Nation's Capital. Tipoff at Capital One Arena is scheduled for noon and the game will be broadcast on FS1. Both squads are looking for their first BIG EAST Conference win as the Hoyas enter the contest at an even 7-7 on the season and 0-3 in conference play and DePaul holds a 3-10 record with an 0-2 mark in league action.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown is looking for its first BIG EAST win of the season after falling 77-60 to the visiting Creighton University Bluejays in a midweek matchup on Tuesday. Rowan Brumbaugh's career-high 19 points led the squad as he also chipped in a team-best five assists while grabbing a trio of rebounds. Jay Heath chipped in 11 as the only other Hoya in double figures while Supreme Cook managed a team-best five boards in the contest.
  • Georgetown has a trio in double figures, led by Jayden Epps' 17.8 ppg, followed by Dontrez Styles who is averaging 14.8 ppg and Cook's 10.1 ppg. Epps, who was sidelined in the last outing with an injury to his right ankle, ranks third in BIG EAST scoring.
  • Cook's 8.3 rpg leads the team and he ranks third in the BIG EAST Conference.
  • Rowan Brumbaugh's 18 steals this season tops the Hoyas while his 1.4 spg ranks seventh in the BIG EAST Conference.
  • Epps paces the offense with 4.1 apg while Brumbaugh shares the duties, dishing out 3.2 apg.
  • The Hoyas are led by Ed Cooley who is in his 18th season as a collegiate head coach and his first season with Georgetown. In 2022, Cooley was the recipient of the Naismith Coach of the Year Award, named the Sporting News Coach of the Year, the BIG EAST Coach of the Year, the NABC District 5 Coach of the Year and the USBWA District 1 Coach of the Year.
 
ABOUT THE BLUE DEMONS
  • DePaul enters the game at 3-10, falling 85-56 at No. 4 UConn on Tuesday in Storrs. Da'Sean Nelson and Elijah Fisher combined for 36 points in the loss as the lone Blue Demons in double figures. Fisher led DePaul on the glass grabbing five boards while Jalen Terry dished out a trio of assists to pace the offense.
  • DePaul has four averaging double figures led by Chico Carter Jr.'s 12.7 ppg, followed by Jeremiah Oden (11.0 ppg), Nelson (10.8 ppg) and Fisher (10.3 ppg).
  • Nelson's 4.5 rpg narrowly leads the squad on the glass, followed by Fisher's 4.3 rpg and Oden's 4.1 rpg.
  • Carter Jr. 's 4.1 apg paces the offense.
  • The Blue Demons are led by Head Coach Tony Stubblefield, in his third season.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES WITH DEPAUL
  • Saturday's matchup will be the 49th all-time between the two programs, dating back to the 1941-42 season. The Hoyas hold a 34-14 advantage and the squads split a pair of games a season ago.
