WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's squash team went on the road for a trio of matches and returned home with a pair of victories to open the 2024 calendar year. The No. 15 Hoyas defeated No. 16 Middlebury 7-2 and No. 13 Amherst 5-4 while falling to No. 14 Williams 6-3.
In a battle against Amherst, the Hoyas rallied from a 4-1 deficit to earn the win.
Mary Kacergis came back from a 2-0 deficit, and down 10-6 in the fifth game, to keep the Blue & Gray alive.
Sydney Bramen closed things out for the Hoyas to seal the victory.
Brianna Jefferson paced the Hoyas (4-4) in the top position with a 3-0 record on the week while Kagercis also went undefeated at 3-0 playing in the fifth spot.
Aaru Kuthari and
Katie Hennessy also had solid weekends, winning two of three matches in the second and seventh spots, respectively. while
Ella Schoonmaker,
Lindsay Lee, Bramen,
Caroline Wilcox and
Eena Yu each recorded a victory in New England as well.
Playing in the exhibition slot for all three matches,
Aalia Husain earned a pair of wins against Williams and Amherst.

The Hoyas return to action next weekend with a road trek to Upstate New York to face St. Lawrence and William Smith.
