Georgetown Travels to Villanova for Midday Matchup

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will begin a two-game road swing with a BIG EAST Conference matchup against the Villanova University Wildcats on Wednesday morning at Finneran Pavilion. Tipoff is slated for 11:30 a.m. on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports presented by Invesco QQQ.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is sitting at 12-3 overall and 2-2 in BIG EAST Conference play.
  • GU is coming off of an 83-55 loss to the No. 12 UConn Huskies on Sunday at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C.
  • Three Hoyas scored in double figures as graduate student Graceann Bennett led the way for the Hoyas with 13 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double.
  • Senior Kelsey Ransom added 12 points, while graduate student Alex Cowan rounded it out posting 10 points in the contest.
  • Earlier in the week, GU managed a comeback victory at Butler winning 60-55. The Hoyas used a second-half push to pick up their second conference win of the season and third victory in a row.
  • Bennett led the way for the Hoyas with a career-best 20 points and eight rebounds to her credit.
  • Ransom managed 13 points and three assists, while junior Brianna Scott tallied 11 points and three blocks in the win.
  • For her efforts in the 1-1 week, Bennett was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in her career on Monday. 
  • She averaged 16.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists over two games for the Hoyas.
  • Ransom leads the team in almost all categories. She is 10th in the league in scoring (15.1 ppg), 15th in rebounding (6.1 rpg), ninth in assists (3.6 apg) and is third in the league with an impressive 2.6 steals per game.
  • Bennett is second on the team with 9.3 ppg as well as a team-best 7.7 rpg which ranks sixth in the BIG EAST.
  • Scott rounds out the top three with 9.0 ppg, 6.4 rpg and 1.8 blocks per game, the block total puts her second in the conference.
  • The Hoyas are leading the league and ranked seventh in the nation in scoring defense averaging 51.8 ppg.
About the Wildcats
  • Villanova is 9-5 overall and 2-1 in the league after a 50-45 win at Seton Hall on Wednesday evening.
  • Kaitlyn Orihel led the way with 13 points and six rebounds, while Maddie Webber finished with 11 points. Lucy Olsen was the third Wildcat in double figures with 10 points.
  • Christina Dalce finished with a game-high 12 rebounds.
  • Olsen leads the team and the league in scoring averaging 23.0 ppg, Dalce sits behind her averaging 10.2 ppg to go along with a BIG EAST-best 10.9 rpg.
