Hoyas Travel to Crossroads of America for Thursday Night Showdown with Butler

WASHINGTON – The No. 20 Georgetown University women's soccer team will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to face the Butler Bulldogs on Thursday, October 3. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at the Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown is 7-1-3 on the season after defeating the Connecticut Huskies 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
  • Henley Tippins was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after two stellar performances last week. The junior netted two against Seton Hall marking her first career multi-goal game of the season and the second of her collegiate career. Tippins also chipped in an assist against UConn on Sunday tallying five points on the week.
  • Erika Harwood was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after playing all 180 minutes in a 2-0 week for GU. The senior helped anchor the Hoya backline en route to GU's eighth shutout of the season against Seton Hall. Harwood also tallied her first assist of the season on Sunday against UConn.
  • Cara Martin has been sensational in goal for GU boasting a 0.31 GAA in 585 minutes of action. Martin has contributed in all eight Hoya shutouts and has 10 saves to her credit this season.
  • Georgetown currently ranks eighth nationally in shots per game (21.00), fifth in the nation in corner kicks per game (8.09), ninth in GAA (0.455), 10th in shots on goal per game (9.36) and is fifth in shutout percentage (.727).
ABOUT BUTLER
  • Butler (6-3-2, 1-1-1 BE) is coming off a 1-0 loss to Providence on Sunday afternoon.
  • Talia Sommer paces the Bulldog offense with five goals and three assists this season. Sommer has a team-high 13 points in 11 games.
  • Anna Pierce has played all 990 minutes in goal in Butler's 11 contests. Pierce boasts a 0.82 GAA and has made 29 saves on the season.
