Squash Falls 5-4 at No. 11 Dartmouth

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's 12th-ranked squash team dropped a tightly-contested 5-4 showdown on the road at No. 11 Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon in Hanover, New Hampshire. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 0-2 on the season while the Big Green open the 2024-25 campaign 1-0.
 
The Hoyas found success in the top half of the ladder, winning three of its four matches in the top four flights. Rachel Mashek won in five games (11-6, 7-11, 5-11, 11-9, 11-2) in the second position while Ana Margarita Quijano (11-7, 11-7, 11-8) and Cici Curran (11-7, 11-8, 11-7) both swept their opponents in the third and fourth spots, respectively.
 
Lindsay Lee picked up the fourth win for the Hoyas with an 11-8, 10-12, 13-11, 6-11, 11-9 marathon victory in the sixth slot.
 
Playing in a non-scoring exhibition, Aalia Husain put together a thrilling come-from-behind victory to win 9-11, 5-11, 11-9, 11-6, 12-10.
 
Mashek and Quijano remain undefeated at 2-0 to start their Georgetown careers while Curran picked up her first career win with the Blue & Gray. Lee's win was her first of the season for the Hoyas.
 
Next Time Out
The Hoyas return to the District for their home opener at Squash On Fire on Friday, November 22 against third-ranked Penn at 4 p.m.
