Washington - The Georgetown University Track & Field / Cross Country team welcomes three incoming freshmen to the class of 2029. The high school seniors signed their athletic scholarship agreements this week to officially declare their intention to attend and run for the Hoyas in 2025.
Archie Coates
Hometown: Somerset, United Kingdom
High School: Leweston School
Coach Bonsey about Coates:
"Archie's track times are very fast for someone who trains a little as he does. I believe once he trains at a college level, he's going to be a big-time college runner in the long-distance events."
Van Furman
Hometown: Grahamsville, NY
High School: Tri-Valley Central School
Coach Bonsey about Furman: "XXX"
"We are excited about the potential that Van possesses. He is a two-time New York State Champion in cross country and a 9:07 steeplechase as a junior in high school is very fast. He reminds me a lot of the reigning NCAA champion in the steeplechase Parker Stokes."
Alex Pelov
Hometown: Towaco, NJ
High School: Montville Township High School
Coach Bonsey about Pelov:
"Alex is a very talented middle-distance athlete that I believe long term can develop into a good college cross country runner as well. He started to show signs last spring of how good he can be, and I think his track times this year will show that as well."
