Georgetown Swimming & Diving Breaks Nine Records En Route to Victories Over Johns Hopkins

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's & women's swimming & diving team broke eight pool records and one school record while capturing victories over Johns Hopkins at McCarthy Pool on Saturday afternoon.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Angelica Reali broke a school and pool record with a first-place finish in the 200 fly (2:00.36).
  • Maddie Haley, Emily Gao, Genevieve Youngman and Natalie Aiken set a pool record with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:43.85).
  • In the 400 free relay, Kaitlin Lee, Ines Lovato, Allie Sanchez and Cali Oyerly set a pool record with a first-place finish (3:28.05). 
  • Payton Smith captured first in the 1000 free with a time of 10:27.52. 
  • In the 100 backstroke, Haley finished in first with a time of 56.79. 
  • Gao took first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.43.
  • Aiken (23.96) and Taplin Seelbach (24.01) finished in first and second in the 50 free. 
  • In the 200 backstroke, Sanchez captured first with a time of 2:02.71.
  • Alex Breuer and Gao went first and second in the 200 breaststroke with times of 2:21.50 and 2:21.51, respectively.
  • In the 500 free, Lee finished in first place with a time of 5:00.63
  • Reali earned another first-place finish with a time of 55.26 in the 100 fly. 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Ryan Mathis, Bailey De Luise, Troy Keen and Owen Watkins set a pool record with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:29.56). 
  • Watkins earned first place and set McCarthy Pool records in the 50 free (20.54) and 100 free (45.28). 
  • In the 200 breaststroke, Nick Pezzella set a pool record while finishing in first with a time of 2:01.34. 
  • Jack Januario set a pool record with a first-place finish in the 400 IM (3:56.46)
  • In the 1000 free, Januario captured first with a time of 9:25.24.
  • Conor Jellig, Jack Brearton and Michael Mostofi swept the podium in the 200 free with times of 1:40.62, 1:41.85 and 1:42.57, respectively.
  • In the 100 breaststroke, De Luise, Nick Pezzella and Ansen Meyer swept the podium with times of 55.26, 56.40 and 56.93, respectively. 
  • Gabe Gonda captured first in the 200 fly with a time of 1:51.84. 
  • Watkins, Jellig, De Luise and Connor Brennan closed out the meet with a first-place finish in the 400 free relay (3:04.62).
