WASHINGTON - Georgetown University ranked No. 9 in the country in the Division I Learfield Directors' Cup current fall standings, which were released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) for the first time this academic year on Monday.
The Hoyas ranked No. 9 nationally with 220 points. Georgetown is first among all seven ranked BIG EAST Conference teams and also leads all non-FBS teams.
This is the 10th-consecutive year that Georgetown has been ranked among the top-25 teams in the country at this point of the season in the standings.
Sport Rankings
- The Hoyas were aided in their top-25 standing by earning 69 points from the women's cross country team, which finished ninth at the NCAA Championship.
- Men's cross country was close behind with 51 points after a 23rd-place finish.
- Both the men's and women's soccer teams rounded out the point scorers with 50 points apiece after advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
About the Division I Learfield Directors' Cup
- The Division I Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
- The final fall standings for Division I and Division III will be released after the Bowl Games, FCS Championship and Division III Football Championship in January.
