Georgetown to Face Colgate in Coaches vs. Racism Event

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will close out its six-game road swing with a neutral-site game at the Entertainment & Sports Arena on Saturday. The Hoyas will face the Colgate Raiders in the third game of the Coaches vs. Racism event. The contest is scheduled to tip at 4 p.m.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (5-3) is coming off of a heart pounding 55-53 victory at Richmond on Wednesday evening.
  • Victoria Rivera's 35-foot last-second 3-pointer gave the Hoyas the win and also ended Richmond's perfect start to the season.
  • It capped off a huge run where GU came back from a 10-point second-half deficit to pick up the victory.
  • Graduate student Kelsey Ransom led the Hoyas with 21 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists and two steals.
  • Senior Ariel Jenkins managed 12 points and a squad-best seven boards.
  • Rivera also had 12 with all of her points coming from beyond the arc and pulled down seven boards to match Jenkins.
  • On Monday, Ransom was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the third time this season. Ransom averaged 17.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in a two-game week for Georgetown.
  • Ransom is second in the league in scoring (20.5 ppg) and second in assists (4.6 apg) as well as seventh in steals (2.3 spg).
  • Rivera is second on the team in scoring averaging 12.8 ppg. She is currently leading the BIG EAST in 3-pointers with 24, and is fourth in the league in 3-point percentage hitting 46.2 percent.
  • Jenkins rounds out the top three with a pair of double-doubles on the season and 12.0 ppg. Jenkins leads in the league on the glass with 9.0 rpg and sits at third in the BIG EAST in blocks averaging 1.6 per game.
  • Sunday is the final contest of the six-game road swing for the Blue & Gray. GU will not return to McDonough Arena until December 9 despite playing two games in The District during the stretch.
About the Raiders
  • Colgate is 6-2 on the season and recently won their Thanksgiving Tournament defeating UMBC (75-49) and Akron (62-45).
  • Anne Bair was named the tournament's MVP, while Morgan McMahon was named to the All-Tournament Team.
  • The Raiders' two losses have come to then-No. 5 UCLA 81-63 and Delaware 88-82.
  • Bair is leading the squad with 13.5 ppg followed by Taylor Golembiewski (13.9 ppg) and Sophia Diehl (10.4 ppg).
  • Golembiewski was named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team, and the Raiders were selected to finish second in the 2024-25 Patriot League Women's Basketball Preseason Poll earning 120 points including five first-place votes.
  • Colgate's second place preseason spot was its highest since the 2004-05 season where the Raiders were also selected to finish second.
