IUPUI
How it Happened
  • After a scoreless and hitless first inning for Georgetown, Samantha Miller opened the floodgates for the Hoya offense at the top of the second with a two-run home run to left center field. Her homer brought in Levitt who was on base after being walked.
  • The Hoyas continued to pressure offensively at the top of the second, as Park's single and advance to third after a wild pitch put her in prime scoring position. Abby Kozo brought Park home with another single up the middle, bringing the score at the middle of the inning to 3-0.
  • Julia Parker struck an IUPUI batter out swinging for her first strikeout to end the second, keeping the Jaguars scoreless.
  • The Hoyas saw no hits or runs in the third but Parker earned another strikeout, as their defense stifled any IUPUI retaliation.
  • In the top of the fourth, the Hoyas deepened their lead with another all-around offensive performance. Campos opened up the inning with a solo home run to right field, bringing the score to 4-0. Still, the Hoyas were not finished as Wincher doubled to left center and then took advantage of a throwing error to make it to third.
  • Wincher's hit brought in two runs, with Turner and Rebhan coming home to push the Hoyas to a 6-0 lead.
  • In the sixth inning, Turner made it on base again after a throwing error from the IUPUI shortstop, capitalizing on the missed connection to reach second base. Turner continued to show strong base running as she stole third, but the Hoyas could not find a way to bring her home and the score remained 6-0.
  • Despite IUPUI getting one single in the bottom of the sixth and one in the seventh, Georgetown's defense held strong and did not let the Jaguars retaliate.
Hoya Highlights
  • Parker led the Hoyas in the circle, holding IUPUI scoreless all game with 7.0 IP and two strikeouts while only allowing four hits. She received the win for her performance.
  • The Hoya offense was well-rounded against IUPUI, sparked by Miller's home run which gave them the early 2-0 lead. Campos continued her clutch performance from earlier in the day with her first home run of the season.
  • Wincher's double in the fourth also proved to be pivotal for the team, bringing in two more runs to put them at a dominant six runs ahead. With those two RBIs, she leads the Hoyas in the category, closely followed by Turner.
