Box Score 2 WASHINGTON – Georgetown softball opened the Frost Classic with a 10-2 loss to Ohio, followed by a 3-1 victory over the host, Chattanooga, on Friday, February 23 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Hoyas have now won seven out of their last eight and hold a record of 7-5 on the season.

How it Happened

After a quiet first two innings from both teams, the Hoyas earned the first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning.

With the bases loaded and only one out, Emily Strittmatter came home off an Ohio throwing error after Camryn Wincher lined out.

Ohio retook the lead by earning six runs in the top of the fourth.

GU earned a run back in the bottom of the sixth when Gabby Park hit a double to right field, bringing Dayanara Campos home from first base, cutting the lead to four.

Ohio iced the game by adding four runs in the seventh inning.

Park had another impressive performance, going 2-3 at bat with a double and also recorded an RBI.

Wincher earned her team leading 11th RBI of the season.

How it Happened

In the circle, Julia Parker opened the game with two consecutive 1-2-3 innings.

In the third inning, Chattanooga had runners on second and third with two outs, but the Hoyas escaped after Parker grounded out the UTC batter.

Maicie Levitt hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the fourth inning, giving the Hoyas a 1-0 lead.

Chattanooga tied the game with a sac-fly in the bottom of the fifth.

With the game tied in the top of the sixth, Campos hit a go-ahead two run home run over the right field wall, putting GU back on top 3-1.

With two outs and runners on first and third, Parker kept Chattanooga off the board by striking out the Chattanooga batter to end the inning.

Parker locked up the win for the Hoyas with another 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh.

Parker was lights out today, recording seven innings pitched, three strikeouts, one run and a 1.00 ERA.

Levitt notched two runs and an RBI. Her home run in the third inning was her first of the season.

Campos also impressed, earning two RBIs and a run. She also hit the go-ahead home run in the sixth inning, her team leading third of the season.

Georgetown will compete in another two contests tomorrow, February 24 for the second day of the Frost Classic. The Hoyas will play UT Martin at 10 a.m. before facing off against Valparaiso at 3 p.m.
