Hoyas to Open Season at FGCU Kickoff Classic

WASHINGTON - Georgetown softball is set to open its 2024 season this weekend at the Florida Gulf Coast University Kickoff Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. The Hoyas will be joined by four other schools competing in the event, including FGCU, Louisville, Boston College and LIU. 

The Hoyas will open the tournament on Friday, February 9, at 2:30 p.m. against Louisville before competing against the hosts, FGCU, at 7:30 p.m. The Blue & Gray will play another two games on Saturday, February 10, first, against Boston College at 12:15 p.m. and then a rematch against Louisville at 5 p.m. Georgetown will conclude the tournament on Sunday, February 11, at 10 a.m. against LIU.

About the Hoyas

  • Georgetown is coming off a 16-33 2023 season where they went 9-15 in conference play.

  • The Hoyas return senior third baseman Samantha Miller along with sophomore Claire Turner who will be seen in the outfield this season.

  • GU welcomed seven freshmen and two graduate transfers to the team this spring.

  • Junior Kayla Dunn and senior Julia Parker along with junior Avery Wissmar will lead in the circle.

  • Georgetown is coached by Head Coach Pat Conlan and Assistant Coach Gaby Elvina.

Scouting the Golden Eagles

  • The Hoyas are 1-1 all time against the Golden Eagles with their last meeting coming in 2020.

  • Boston College went 24-28 last season and 6-18 in the ACC.
