Georgetown Athletics Inducts Six Luminaries Into the Hall of Fame

The Georgetown University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics inducted six Hoya luminaries into the Hall of Fame on Friday evening. The celebration was held on campus at the Lohrfink Auditorium with a reception to honor the outstanding achievements of these former student-athletes.

Steven P. Dusseau (C'02)
Men's Lacrosse
  • Two-time Tewaaraton finalist.
  • Recognized by USILA as the most outstanding player in the nation.
  • Three-time All-America selection.
  • Two-time ECAC Offensive Player of the Year.
  • Selected three times to All-ECAC first team.
  • Helped Georgetown to the NCAA Final Four in his first year and to two additional quarterfinal berths.
  • Two ECAC Championship appearances.
  • Helped Georgetown maintain a top-10 NCAA ranking during all four years on the Hilltop.
  • Two-time team MVP.
  • Won Georgetown's Outstanding Offensive Player Award in his senior year.
  • Granted the Robert A. Duffey Scholar-Athlete Award, recognizing excellence in both academics and athletics.
  • A CoSIDA Academic All-District II awardee.
  • Two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America team.
  • USILA All-America Scholar-Athlete.
  • Drafted second overall by the Boston Cannons in the Major League Lacrosse draft, subsequently named to the 2003 MLL All-Star team.
  • Competed as a member of the U.S. National Team that won the World Cup championship in 2002.
Elizabeth Delgado Seelman (F'01)
Women's Soccer
  • Finished her Georgetown career in 2000 in second place in the Georgetown records in career goals, career assists, career points, and tied for second in single-season assists.
  • Named to BIG EAST All-Rookie Team her freshman year
  • Started and played in every Georgetown contest over her four years, and captained the team during her senior year.
  • Helped the Hoyas to their first-ever BIG EAST Championship berth.
  • Named to the 2000 All-Mid-Atlantic Team.
  • Team-leader in scoring during her junior and senior year.
  • Four-time All-BIG EAST selection.
  • Set a new Georgetown record in 2000 for assists in a game when she tallied four against Wagner College her senior year, also marking her third on the NCAA Women's Soccer single-game highs list for 2000.
  • Second member of the Athletic Hall of Fame from the sport of women's soccer.
Michael D. Sweetney (C'04)
Men's Basketball
  • Named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie team.
  • Finished the 2002 season averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds, and was named to the first team All-BIG EAST roster. That year, he was the only player in the nation to rank in the top 20 in scoring and rebounding.
  • Helped lead the Hoyas to a 16-0 start and to a 25-8 overall record in 2001.
  • Senior season shot 55 percent from the floor and 74 percent from the line, and his 25.1 per game average trails only Allen Iverson for a single-season average.
  • Led the Hoyas to a Sweet 16 NCAA appearance.
  • Team captain and the Reds Daly MVP Award winner.
  • Led Georgetown to the 2003 NIT championship final.
  • AP All-America selection.
  • Finalist for the Naismith College Player of the Year.
  • Candidate for the John R. Wooden Award.
  • Two-time All-BIG EAST selection.
  • Fifth all-time in the Georgetown record books in rebounds.
  • Drafted by the Knicks in 2003, played four seasons in the NBA.
Erin Elbe Davidson (C'02)
Women's Lacrosse
  • 2002 Tewaaraton Trophy Award Recipient.
  • Four-time All-America performer.
  • Finished the 2002 season ranked ninth nationally in points per game (4.26).
  • 2002 National Player and Attacker of the Year.
  • 2002 BIG EAST Player and Attacker of the Year.
  • Two-time NCAA All-Tournament Team.
  • Honda Collegiate Women-Lacrosse Player of the Year.
  • Team captain and team MVP senior year.
  • Helped Georgetown to two NCAA championship finals and two quarterfinal appearances.
  • Led the Hoyas to two consecutive BIG EAST Championship titles.
  • Third in Georgetown record books for assists and draws.
  • Georgetown all-time career leader in ground balls, second in career points and goals.
  • One of two Hoya players to ever score more than 200 goals.
  • Selected as a member of the U.S. National Elite Team in 2000, and named an alternate on the 2001 U.S. World Cup Team.
Christopher P. Lengle (C'02)
Men's Swimming & Diving
  • Broke multiple school records, setting new individual marks in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events.
  • Set new relay records in the 400 medley and at the 200, 400, and 800 distances.
  • School record-breaking 200 relay team performance, just two seconds off of first place at the 1999 BIG EAST Championships.
  • Team MVP in his final two years, he finished for four consecutive years among top 16 performers at the BIG EAST Championships.
Rebekkah W. Brunson (C'04)
Women's Basketball
  • 2001 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year.
  • Toured Germany with the 2001 BIG EAST Summer All-Stars.
  • Selected to Team USA for the 2003 Pan Am Games as a junior, where she led the team in scoring and rebounding.
  • Four-time All-BIG EAST selection.
  • Led the Hoyas to two Women's NIT appearances.
  • BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year as a senior.
  • First GU women's basketball player to earn AP All-America honors.
  • First player in BIG EAST history to lead the league in scoring (20.4) and rebounding (11.3).
  • In 2004, became Georgetown's all-time leading rebounder. Finished second on the all-time scoring list.
  • Secured 336 rebounds as a senior, the highest single season total in Hoya history. Also led the league in double-doubles that year with 18.
  • Participated in the 2004 postseason WBCA All-Star Challenge.
  • Four-time team MVP and two-time team captain.
  • Selected as the 10th overall pick in the 2004 WNBA draft, and layed 15 seasons in the WNBA.
