Georgetown Ranks 13th in Standings for USTFCCCA Program of the Year

WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the USTFCCCA released its midyear update for its Program of the Year Award. The Hoyas hold the 13th spot in the standings for both the John McDonnell Men's Program of the Year Award and the Terry Crawford Women's Program of the Year Award in NCAA Division I.
With two of three NCAA Championships accounted for, cross country and indoor track & field, the Hoya men have 51.5 points while the Hoya women have 41.5.
The USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award honors the institution that has achieved the most success in each academic year based on the institution's finish at the NCAA Championships for the cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field seasons.
About The Men
  • On the men's side, Georgetown finished the indoor track & field season in 21st place for 21.5 points, with Georgetown's men's DMR squad taking second place and Abel Teffra finishing fifth in the mile. 
  • The Hoya men also finished the cross country season in 30th place nationally, earning 30 points, with two top 150 finishes: Parker Stokes (127th) and Birhanu Harriman (131st).
About The Women
  • At the NCAA Indoor Championships, the Hoyas finished 23rd overall. Melissa Riggins finished fourth in the mile final with a time of 4:29.02, setting a new school record and earning First-Team All-America honors. Chloe Scrimgeour also took seventh place in the 3000m and the 5000m, earning First Team All-America accolades for both. 
  • The Hoyas closed the cross country season finishing 18th nationally after winning the BIG EAST Championships and Mid-Atlantic Regional earlier this fall. The Hoyas were led by Scrimgeour, who finished eighth overall earning All-America Honors.


UP NEXT 
The Hoyas will begin the outdoor track & field season this weekend at the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond, Virginia. The USTFCCCA will announce its Program of the Year Award winners at the conclusion of the outdoor season.
