Second Varsity Eight Earns Patriot League Boat of the Week Honors

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's rowing second varsity eight boat was named the Patriot League Boat of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday morning. This is the first Boat of the Week award for the Hoyas this season after earning a pair of honorable mentions earlier in the campaign.

The Hoyas competed in the Dad Vail Regatta this past weekend in Pennsauken, New Jersey. The 2nd Varsity 8+ was one of four GU boats to win a gold medal and one of six to medal overall. The inclusion of both the openweights and lighweights at the event proved fruitful as the Hoyas won the award for team points with a combined 150.

In the time trial, the Hoyas took first clocking in at 7:59.125 and defeating Drexel and Fordham. In the final, GU rowed a 7:05.851 as the Rams took second and the Dragons third.
Georgetown now looks ahead to the Patriot League Championship which will be held on Friday in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
