Emily Novikov and Chloe Bendetti Earn BIG EAST End of Season Honors

WASHINGTON - After an eight-win season, Emily Novikov was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year on Thursday. In addition to the award, Novikov and Chloe Bendetti were named to Second Team All-BIG EAST.

On Novikov winning the award, Head Coach Freddy Mesmer stated, "I am so proud of Emily Novikov for winning this award. Her competitive spirit showed through her results this season. The tenacity she shows as a player and a person moved her from #6 in the lineup all the way to number two. I am looking forward to watching Emily continue to develop on the tennis court, but more importantly as a leader for this program moving forward."

Novikov lead went 11-4 in the spring season competing in every position except the number one position. Her 11 singles wins were the most on the team. Novikov also went 7-4 in doubles, primarily competing in the number three doubles position.

Bendetti held a singles record of 7-8 on the year, competing every match in the singles number one position. Bendetti also went 9-10 in doubles. Her nine wins were tied for most on the team. Bendetti was named BIG EAST Doubles Player of the Week once this season.
