WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team opened the 2024 campaign with a 0-0 draw against the Vanderbilt Commodores. With the tie, the Hoyas open the regular season at 0-0-1.
Head Coach Dave Nolan
"I can't really complain about the girls' effort today. I felt we battled really hard and there were moments we looked really good and moments we can definitely improve upon. I felt as the game went on, especially the second half, we were the team that was more likely to win it and we had a good chance near the end there that we couldn't quite finish. It was a good game for us, Vanderbilt is a good team, and their midfield in particular did a good job of moving the ball fast and it made it difficult for us to get them closed down. When we got the ball, I thought we were quite dangerous, and I saw a lot of good things out there today. You never want to lose your first game, so we got a shutout and a tie against a good SEC team and that will set us up now moving forward toward our next run of games. Overall, I thought our girls battled hard and we deserved at least a tie so good luck to Vanderbilt moving forward and we look forward to getting back out here next week."
