RV Georgetown Set to Host Quinnipiac on Thursday

WASHINGTON – The RV Georgetown University women's soccer team is set to host Quinnipiac on Thursday, August 22. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. at Shaw Field on the campus of Georgetown University.

  • Due to campus move-in on Thursday, all fans should enter campus via Reservoir Road entrance 4 and park in the Hariri Garage (Garage 4). More information regarding campus parking can be found here.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown opened its 2024 campaign last week welcoming SEC foe Vanderbilt to the Hilltop for a Thursday afternoon contest. After 90 minutes of action, neither side was able to pull in front as the contest ended in a 0-0 draw.
  • Anna Karpenko earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll this week. The graduate student made three saves in 45 minutes of action, en route to GU's first shutout of the season.
  • Last season GU went 13-2-7 in 2023 with a mark of 6-0-4 in BIG EAST Conference play which was good enough to win a share of the regular season championship. The Hoyas boasted one All-American and six All-BIG EAST selections, including one major award winner. The Blue & Gray advanced to the NCAA second round a season ago and finished the season ranked No. 21 in the nation.
  • Georgetown returns 20 players from last season's squad that won the program's seventh BIG EAST title in the past eight years. The Hoyas defeated No. 17 Xavier 2-0 in the BIG EAST Championship as GU secured its fourth-consecutive conference crown.
  • This season, Georgetown will face five teams in the non-conference slate that appeared in the 2023 NCAA Championship.
 
ABOUT QUINNIPIAC
  • Quinnipiac opened the season on Thursday against Hofstra. The Bobcats and Pride finished in a 1-1 draw after Hofstra was able to find an equalizer in the 84th minute.
  • Courtney Chochol returns for the Bobcats after leading the squad in points a season ago with 25. Chochol tallied eight goals and nine assists leading all Bobcats in both categories.
  • 2023 MAAC Gold Glove Award Winner Sofia Lospinoso returns in goal for Quinnipiac. The graduate student logged 1,469 minutes in goal last season and boasted a 12-4-1 record with a 1.10 GAA.
WHAT LIES AHEAD
Georgetown will be back in action on Sunday, August 25 as Sacred Heart comes to town for a non-conference matchup. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Shaw Field and a link to live stats and a live stream will be available on GUHoyas.com.
