WASHINGTON – The RV Georgetown University women's soccer team defeated Sacred Heart 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Shaw Field. With the win, GU improves to 2-0-1 on the season while SHU falls to 0-3 on the year.
Head Coach Dave Nolan
"Today presented a different challenge, unlike our opponent on Thursday. Sacred Heart played a little more disciplined and sat in which made it hard to break them down. We had a number of good chances in the first half and a few that went off the woodwork. We just needed that first goal for our confidence and to take the stress out of it. We knew that if we did that, it would make them have to be a little bit braver in the way they were attacking. We got two great goals from
Maja Lardner, and it was great to see her get a couple of good finishes. As the day went on, it was hot, muggy and humid and it took a lot for us to try and find that third goal and we couldn't quite get it. It wasn't through a lack of opportunities, but the positive is we can watch it all back on film and work on the things we need to do better as a unit."
