Box Score WASHINGTON – The No. 23 Georgetown University women's soccer team defeated the Lafayette Leopards 6-0 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, GU improves to 3-0-1 on the season while Lafayette slides to 1-2.
Head Coach Dave Nolan
"Today was always going to be a tricky day with the heat and everything. It wasn't easy for the kids to play but I thought in the first half in particular, we were excellent, and we did so many of the things we wanted to do, we moved the ball fast, combined well, used our width very well and we dealt with their system. Then it was a matter of getting people minutes, getting others a break and some an opportunity. I have to give Lafayette credit; Mick is a very good coach, and he came down here with the mindset of wanting to see what his team could do when they were matched up against a better team. They came out and played toe-to-toe and they will learn more from that than if they just sat in and tried to keep the score low. I give them credit and they are going to be a good team in their conference. For our group, it was great to get so many people on the field. I thought in particular that
Maja Lardner was outstanding for us, despite the goals she is always dangerous. I also thought
Eliza Turner was excellent in the midfield as well and we had a lot of really good performances today. We look forward to getting back out here Thursday against a good Pepperdine team."
