Georgetown Travels to UConn for Sunday Showdown

 
WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team will travel to Storrs, Connecticut to face the UConn Huskies on Sunday, September 29. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium at Rizza Performance Center.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown is 6-1-3 on the season after dismantling Seton Hall 5-0 on Thursday afternoon. The Hoya offense was dominant in the match as GU outshot the Pirates 29-3.
  • Henley Tippins netted two against Seton Hall marking her first multi-goal game of the season the second of her Hoya career.
  • Eliza Turner tallied her fourth goal in as many games on Thursday. The senior has been dominant early this season tallying eight points in GU's first 10 games.
  • Maja Lardner was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after tallying the game winner against Creighton on Sunday. Lardner paces the Hoya offense with 14 points this season. The senior has five goals, a mark good for second in the BIG EAST and four assists which ranks third in the conference.
  • Cara Martin earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after playing all 90 minutes in goal in the GU's 1-0 victory over Creighton. Martin played 76 minutes in GU's eighth clean sheet of the season against the Pirates and made one save. The junior boasts a 0.167 GAA in 539 minutes of action, a mark that ranks first nationally.  
  • Georgetown currently ranks sixth nationally in shots per game (21.80), fourth in the nation in corner kicks per game (8.50), seventh in GAA (0.400), 12th in shots on goal per game (9.50) and is third in shutout percentage (.800).
ABOUT UCONN
  • UConn (6-1-3, 0-0-2 BE) enters Sunday's contest fresh off a 1-1 draw with No. 21 Xavier. The Huskies converted on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to earn a point on the road.
  • Chioma Okafor paces the Connecticut offense with eight goals on the season, a mark that ranks seventh nationally.
  • Kaitlyn Mahoney has logged 879 minutes between the pipes for UConn this season. The graduate student boasts a 1.02 GAA and has made 26 saves in 10 matches.   

 
WHAT LIES AHEAD
The Blue & Gray will return to action on Thursday, October 3 when GU travels to the Crossroads of America to face the Butler Bulldogs. Kickoff at the Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl in Indianapolis, Indiana is slated for 7 p.m. A link to the live stream and live stats will be available on GUHoyas.com.
